The county's premier club competition is the Senior Football Championship and St Eunan’s and Gaoth Dobhair share the honour of 15 titles each.  Seventeen different clubs have won the Senior championship since its inauguration in 1920.

The first senior hurling championship was in 1906, won by Burt.

Ladies football and Camogie have their own separate administrative structures and have been going from strength to strength.  All bodies are working towards an integration within the future.
